Our Story

Yubeira "Yubi" Zapata came to the United States from Venezuela in 2017. She earned her accounting degree from Ferris State University, passed the CPA exam, and spent four years at a regional firm here in Michigan. That's where she learned the technical work, and where she saw how much gets missed when a client only hears from their accountant in the spring.
So when the chance came to buy a practice from a CPA who had served his clients faithfully for decades, she took it. Filing cabinets, returns prepared for decisions already final, good work, done the way it had always been done. Yubi kept the relationships. She changed nearly everything else.
It was a risk. Her husband, Ruben, isn't in the day-to-day of the firm, but no decision this size gets made without him. They prayed about it, counted the cost, and jumped anyway. They believed God was leading them to build something that would genuinely help business owners, and that belief is still the foundation of LUX CPA.
Because small business owners are the backbone of this country. When they do well, families do well, communities do well, churches and neighborhoods do well. So LUX works ahead of the calendar instead of behind it. Modern tools, clean books owners can actually see, and a plan made in June instead of a surprise in April. Helping owners keep what's theirs isn't a niche here. It's the point.
